Maynia continues….

The ship soared over the waves through the plumes of water playing.  She was sea bound but in another life time she was kin to the earth and soil.  She played with the butterflies darting in and round the fields of flowers.

Abruptly the ship awoke,  her galley was in a state of unrest.  A spot of cleaning was due. A whisk and a flip of the mop and broom soon shined the the brass adorning her mast.

Everyone has a mother and the little ship has one too.  She was created in a dream and she was an idea in the mind of her Mother.  She became a ship that soared and danced on top of the waves of the sea.

The wind started blowing again, and with it came the stomping of 8 sets of hooves and a sleigh.  Santa landed on the desk of the ship bringing greens, reds and  a bit of holly which was wrapped around the rails and the mast of the little ship.

And Christmas was halted by a transparent image sneaking its frigid path through the planks and walls of the little ship.  It howled and froze all who stepped in its way.  Terrified the little ship plowed its way though the dark waves.

I am here in ghost form

Hi remember me ? Yes me I am your faithful blog that you have neglected. What ! You have an excuse ?  There is no excuse !   You have to write again.

I remember you last year saying that you were enjoying this blogging and what happened ? You were very good in the beginning for a couple of months and then it became 2 weeks, then 3 and then nothing.

The little line has been patiently waiting …. I think that he wants to grow up and fly further than the clouds.

You left me hanging on the rest of the alphabet!  Yes I know that the letter U is a difficult letter to narrow down a specific word, but you can do it. There are lots of interesting words out there that start with the letter U so start thinking again!

And I know there are more stories and tales that have been floating around in your head.  So all you have to do is jump in and let the stories come back out !

15 years ago,  it was barely 6 am  (PST) and someone woke me up to watch the news.  I was in shock.  Well we all were.  The planes had just hit the twin towers.  It was eerie, it was a void in time.  With those planes that hit the towers,  the Pentagon and later the last one that came down,  everything just shut down.

I remember just sitting watching over and over the replays… it was too unreal.  No it didn’t happen.  But the news and the internet didn’t not lie that day.  It had happened and it was not going to go away.

I will always remember.   A few days later,  after all of the news the extraordinary efforts of all the people involved in the rescues,  I had lost a friend, a shipmate with whom I had been stationed with in Adak Alaska.  Brian A Moss had been stationed at the Pentagon.

Brian, Wezzie, Chuck Adak, AK sunshine liberty 1991 I think.  Happier times that I wish we could go back to.

I am not sure if I can write much more about it September 11, 2001.   All I know is in the end that kind of destruction is not the answer.  It didn’t solve any problems if anything it created a much bigger problem that we still have not figured out the solution to it all.

I WILL NEVER FORGET!

S is for Story

sis  for STORY   . My STORY is a journey into my imagination and through many lands and places.   I dream of flying and playing among the stars with my dragon . I want to tell my version of my STORY as it weaves and travels through me.

Jake is my STORY I am starting to realize.   The STORY of how he snuck in to become the center of my attention caught me by surprise,   and it started with a long dirt road on a farm and green forest.

Jake whispered as he looked down at his plate.  “Mom where did you come from?”

The silence was complete, everything came to a sudden halt as the little family stared at Jake.  His brother paused in mid chew, the muscles of his cheek bulging with mashed potatoes, and his other brother just simply stared, too startled to say anything.

He didn’t  see his mother looking,  he felt her stare almost as if it was  boring a hole inside of his skull.   It didn’t hurt, it was more of a fear that he would never find a place in this world,  who was his father, and why  was he here?  And he looked up and met his mother’s gaze.  There was a fear of rejection within her eyes.

That STORY has not finished.  The road is long and uncertain and I am sure that there are more pot holes that I still will get stuck in. But the STORY will continue into the forest and beyond.

R is for Rejoice

ris for REJOICE.  Now here is what REJOICE means on the world wide web:

re·joice
rəˈjois/
verb
  1. feel or show great joy or delight.
“he rejoiced when he saw his friend alive”
synonyms: happiness, pleasure, joy, gladness, delight, elation, jubilation, exuberance, exultation, celebration, revelry, merrymaking

And I feel that it is a pretty good description of the meaning of REJOICE.  But my question to you is what does REJOICE mean to you?

To me the feelings and images that appear in my head circle around the Holidays; but for some reason it fits and it doesn’t fit at the same time.   To me it feels a bit fake,  and then  I see dark green holly mixed with the red berries of the season.

    red_cardinal_pointsetta_wreath
And there is a story somewhere in this wreath I can feel it….

And then the feelings of fake suddenly disappear as I feel something new.  I REJOICE for there is a new story brewing.  Where is this wreath ?  Why is it hanging there?  Who put it in that particular space?

So tell me how do you REJOICE?

P is for PEOPLE

pis  for PEOPLE.  All sorts of people; large, small, old, young all of us; who live on this planet that we call Earth. We PEOPLE are good, we are evil, we make mistakes; say things we later regret and scramble to fix. We love, we play, we laugh, but we are PEOPLE here today on this place we call home.

social-media-550767__180

We live and play together in tiny packed spaces, but yet we still are alone in a crowd. Masses of  PEOPLE together in a congested place, how is that possible? There are PEOPLE all around us, and they are within a finger touch away but we are still alone.  PEOPLE are alone inside, our body, our mind.

                                                        BUT …

Being alone is not necessarily a bad thing, because we all need to be alone sometimes.   It can be good;  looking into the sunrise of a new day.   It can be a path to a new beginning;  open up new roads, adventure and new PEOPLE.

K is for Kefir & Kombucha

k is for KEFIR and KOMBUCHA .   I started my journey along the fermented road a few years ago.   I was not a fan of yogurt; I ate it but meh; and back to start of my journey;  I ate some chicken one night (yeah I did it to myself)  and  you know what happened afterwords.  I had a horrid case of food poisoning.  I called out of work and I am not known for doing that.  I can count on one hand the number of times that I have stayed home.

I was so miserable that I didn’t even realize that my phone was on silent and yeah it exploded when I did eventually emerge pale and still feeling yucky.   I ate an entire pint of vanilla yogurt and honestly that was the only thing that stayed in my system.   So that began my love affair with vanilla yogurt.

Zip to the future:  Last year on my birthday my best friend Jeff from my Navy days and Guam sent me a KEFIR culture and a book Cultured Food for Life by Donna Schwenk  who is also the creator of the Cultured Food Life website.   Thank you Donna!!!   And thus my journey of KEFIR  and KOMBUCHA  began.

My VERY energetic batch of KEFIR,  which needs to be shifted to fresh milk.

I received this package in the mail. It literally was a box with a glass jar with milk and a culture inside.  I made the mistake of opening it before reading the instructions:  there might be some pressure build up and to be careful upon opening.  And yeah KEFIR literally exploded into my life.  KEFIR cultures are odd looking.  The best description that I have found and agree with is they look like a head of cauliflower.   My batch is rather vigorous and very hungry.  (I have had to prune them back several times lol) They love their diet of whole milk.   The end product resembles a liquid form of yogurt which you can add fresh fruit and other flavors.  I love mixing it with honey, oatmeal, and chia seeds, which then thickens into a breakfast pudding overnight.

This is my current brew of KOMBUCHA.  I am sorry for the blurry pic!

I will say honestly I am still in the experimental phase of KOMBUCHA .   I am not a fan of vinegar and if you let the brew go for too long; it tends to add a rather tart, tangy flavor to the tea.  The KOMBUCHA journey started with a bottle of raw  unflavored organic  KOMBUCHA  and a glass jar from the thrift store.  I have since graduated to a gallon pickle jar which is working out better overall. (I am so glad the pickles are now gone!!! No more pickles for me for a long time!) So far my favorite favors tend to lean towards the bubbles and the soda like textures of ginger and cranberry.

Have you experimented with either KEFIR or KOMBUCHA ?  Tell me below I would love to read your responses.
